It has been reported this week that there is a man in the UK who contracted Gonorrhea somewhere in Southeast Asia and the bacteria is resistant to the standard antibiotics used to treat it.

The media is calling it “Super Gonorrhea”

But this is no laughing matter. If these antibiotic resistant strains become commonplace, we will have an epidemic on our hands.

Gonorrhea has been a growing concern for international health organizations as more cases have shown drug resistance.

There is a race now to produce newer, more powerful antibiotics to treat these super bugs.

In the meantime, appropriate treatment is essential. Incomplete treatment will only increase the risks of antibiotic resistance.
