- Multiple partners
- Smoking
- Poor immune function, including immunosuppression
Cervical Cancer Prevention
The aim of all vaccinations is to prevent infection. Therefore, vaccination is best given before a person becomes sexually active. However, it is still relevant if you are already sexually active.
Studies have shown that HPV vaccination has successfully reduced the number of new cases of cervical cancer each year.
HPV vaccines are approved for use in males and females between 9 – 45 years of age. If you fall within this age group, we strongly encourage you to consider reducing your risk by being vaccinated.
Vaccinations available:
- Cervarix (Medisave claimable for females ≤ 26 years old)
- Gardasil (Medisave claimable for females ≤ 26 years old)
- Gardasil 9
All vaccines are given as a three-dose regimen over 6 months.
There are minimal side effects associated with these vaccines.
