The U.S. Centre for Disease Control (CDC) tabulated the risk of HIV infection based on a study entitled “Estimated per-act HIV transmission risk: a systemic review”.1
The key message of their findings is that the risk associated with sexual intercourse was reduced most substantially by the combined use of condoms and antiretroviral treatment of HIV-infected partners.
Below, we reproduce a table from the CDC website summarising results of its statistical analysis. While the table provides a good overview of the risk of infection, our doctors at Cross Street Medical
will be able to assess a person’s actual risk of infection through our personalised care.
